Having a skilled occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) of the relevant legislative instrument is a mandatory requirement for applying for Australian General Skilled Visas and Employer-Sponsored Visas.
General Skilled Visa Program:
- Occupations included in the MLTSSL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 189 Visa (Points Tested Stream), Subclass 190 Visa and Subclass 491 Visa.
- Occupations included in the STSOL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 190 Visa and Subclass 491 Visa (state or territory nominated).
- Occupations included in the ROL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 491 Visa (state or territory nominated).
Employer-Sponsored Visa Program:
- Occupations included in the MLTSSL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 186 Visa, Subclass 482 Visa (Medium-Term Stream) and Subclass 494 Visa.
- Occupations included in the STSOL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 482 Visa (Short-Term Stream) and Subclass 494 Visa.
- Occupations included in the ROL list are eligible to apply for Subclass 482 Visa (Medium-Term Stream) (caveats apply) and Subclass 494 Visa. Beyond the occupations listed here, there are additional professions on the Regional Occupation List (ROL) that qualify for the Subclass 494 visa.
