Skilled Work Regional Visa Subclass 491
Overview
This is a 5-year provisional visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia. If you have lived in the designated regional area of Australia for 3 years with this visa and meet the visa requirements, you will be eligible to apply for the Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa.
Basic Eligibility requirements
- You must be under 45 years old.
- You must have a nominated occupation on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skilled List (MLTSSL), Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) or Regional Occupation List (ROL).
- You must have a positive skills assessment for the nominated occupation that was assessed by a relevant assessing authority.
- Your English ability must be equivalent to at least IELTS band 6 for the four components.
- You must meet the minimum EOI score of 65 points.
- You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency, or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area.
- You must be invited to apply for the visa.
- You must meet the health and character requirements.
- You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa.
Note: If you are sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area, your nominated occupation must be on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) only.
