Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa Subclass 191
Overview
This visa is a pathway allows people who have lived and worked in designated regional areas of Australia on a Subclass 491 visa or Subclass 494 visa to stay in Australia permanently.
Basic Eligibility requirements
1. Regional Provisional stream
- You must hold a Subclass 491 or Subclass 494 visa and must have held that visa for at least 3 years.
- You must have complied with the conditions of your Subclass 491 or Subclass 494 visa when in Australia. This requirement applies for the whole period you hold the visa(s).
- You must meet the health and character requirements.
- You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa.
2. Hong Kong stream
- You must hold a Hong Kong passport or a British National (Overseas) passport.
- You must hold a subclass 457 visa, 482 visa or 485 visa at the time your visa application is made, and you must have held that visa for at least 3 years prior to that date.
- You must have been usually resident in a designated regional area of Australia for a continuous period of at least 3 years. This must be immediately before the date you apply for this visa.
- Any work or study you did in the 3 years immediately before applying for this visa must have been in a designated regional area of Australia.
- You must have complied with the conditions attached to your eligible visa when in Australia. This requirement applies for the whole period you hold the visa(s).
- You must have at least functional English (equivalent to IELTS band 4.5)
- You must meet health and character requirements.
- You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa.
