Carer Visa Subclass 836

Overview

This permanent visa lets you stay in Australia to care for someone with a long-term medical condition who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia.

Basic Eligibility requirements

• You must be willing and able to provide ongoing substantial care and support for your sponsoring relative or the family member who lives with them. 
• Your sponsor must be your relative who is a settled Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
• Your sponsor must be assessed as having a long-term or permanent medical condition, and needs your help with practical aspects of daily life for at least 2 years.
• Your sponsor must be unable to resonably access care in Australia.
• You must meet the health and character requirements.
• You must be in Australia when you apply for this visa.
